Atom Jar

Drop atoms into the jar. They stick using real bonding rules to make molecules. Matching molecules join into chains, and power-ups turn one substance into another. Can you make a diamond?

What just happened

Tap the jar to drop an atom
Atoms have "hands" (the little sticks). When two atoms touch and both have a free hand, they share a pair of electrons and stick, but only if they are on their way to a real molecule.

How to play

AtomsH has 1 hand, O has 2, N has 3, C has 4. Fill every hand to finish a molecule.
ScoreEvery bond is a pair of shared electrons (+2). Double bonds share 4, triple bonds 6. Finishing a molecule earns a bonus: bigger molecules, bigger bonus.
EarnedPass 400, 900, 1500… points and you earn a power-up you can use whenever you want, from the row under the jar.
ShakeHeat the jar: half-built pieces shake apart and their atoms find new partners. Finished molecules stay together. 3 shakes, and you earn another every 40 drops.
GlowAtoms glowing the same color are already holding hands: a molecule in progress. Bright green sticks = where the atom you're holding can attach.
GasesHβ‚‚, Oβ‚‚ and Nβ‚‚ drift up and out of the open jar, making room.
ClumpsWater sticks to water (and COβ‚‚ to COβ‚‚, methane to methane, ammonia to ammonia), growing a bigger clump each time, up to 16. They stay separate molecules, just holding on.
ChainsTwo of the same molecule touching link into a longer chain.
FireBurns things into COβ‚‚ and water, or chars sugars into carbon.
LightningSplits water into hydrogen and oxygen.
SunlightCOβ‚‚ touching water becomes sugar, like a leaf.
PressSqueezes charcoal into a diamond.
